About Montgomery County Common Pleas Court
Built in 1847, the Old Montgomery Courthouse is a recognizable part of Dayton’s Greek Revival architecture. Even the inside of the structure is designed to look like the inside of a traditional Greek temple. In 1970, it was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places. To preserve this historic courthouse, the modern Montgomery County Common Pleas Court and Dayton-Montgomery County Courts were constructed a block away, and now both courts handle the majority of criminal and civil cases from Montgomery County, Ohio.
