Attorney Joseph Patituce, founder and managing partner of Patituce & Associates and one of only eight board-certified criminal trial specialists in the state of Ohio, has been retained as defense counsel for Tycen Proper, a 19-year-old Danville man facing federal charges connected to an alleged conspiracy to attack a White House event. As this case continues to draw national attention, Patituce & Associates is now leading the defense.
Criminal Charges Against Our Client
Proper currently faces four federal charges:
- Conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States
- Attempted murder of a U.S. officer or employee
- Possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence
- Receipt or transfer of a firearm used to commit a felony
He was arrested on June 10 and has remained in federal custody since. Every person accused of a crime, regardless of the nature or severity of the allegations, has a constitutional right to a vigorous defense and a fair trial. At Patituce & Associates, we unwaveringly believe in the importance of respecting the criminal justice system, so Attorney Patituce and our team are more than prepared to stand up for Proper when he faces such severe accusations.
Detention Hearing Waived
In federal court, a detention hearing is held to determine whether a defendant will be held in custody or released while the case moves forward. Unlike the state court system, the federal system does not operate on a standard bail schedule. A federal magistrate judge instead determines whether the defendant represents a flight risk or a danger to the community.
On June 17, Proper waived his right to the detention hearing, agreeing to remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending the resolution of the case, while retaining the right to request such a hearing in the future. With Patituce & Associates now at the helm of the defense, every procedural option, including a future detention hearing, will be carefully evaluated as this case develops.
